Basketball is difficult to film because possession changes instantly and the court is compact. A tight zoom may look exciting for one drive but lose the outlet pass, weak-side spacing and defensive transition that coaches need.
Venue rules come first. Never place a tripod in the run-off, block a spectator aisle or attach equipment to the basket structure. Ask the venue or competition for the approved recording location.

Framing for coaching review
Keep the weak side visible. Coaches need to see help defenders, off-ball screens, spacing and who runs back after a shot. Follow the developing play rather than the ball alone, leaving room in front of a fast break.
For individual clips, crop or zoom after recording where image quality allows. A wide master recording preserves options that a tight live pan permanently removes.
