Netball video analysis doesn't need an analyst or a stadium camera. A full-court recording of each game and about 20 minutes of focused review a week covers most of what a club or school coach needs: how the centre pass is working, how the ball gets into the circle, and where turnovers come from. The key is filming the whole court every week, then reviewing a few specific moments rather than rewatching the whole game.
What to film
- Every game, whole court, from the side line at halfway. Consistent footage makes week-to-week comparison possible.
- Training drills where the outcome is visible: centre pass plays, circle feeding, defensive pressure drills.
- Both halves of the court. Teams change ends every quarter, so a camera at one end only shows half the story.
Six moments worth reviewing
| Phase | What to look for | Marker to use |
|---|---|---|
| Centre pass | Who receives first, whether WA and GA create space, how cleanly the ball reaches the attacking third | Pass |
| Circle entry and feeding | Feed angles, the GS holding position, GA drive timing, passes before the shot | Shot |
| Shooting | Shot volume, misses under pressure, rebound positioning | Shot |
| Defensive pressure | Defending at 0.9 m without obstruction, intercepts, deflections, turnovers forced |
